I have googled for article related to CSM and the first many entries always directed me to Cisco’s documents, to be honest, I hate reading Cisco’s documentations, too much word and too many links that confused me and frustrated me, so I have decided to write a series of CSM related articles for my own reference and for people who use CSM but like me wants a quick solution on how to do certain things with CSM.
All begins with adding a new device!

Right click on the device group, and select New Device….
Select Add Device From Network and click Next.
In the section Discovery, leave it as default. These default downloads the existing configuration from the Cisco ASA.

Not all commands are supported by CSM, but this should not be a problem.
Under the deployment column, the deployment status icon is grey, this means the deployment status is unknown, but it does not matter, you can still manage the device event if the deployment status is unknown. However if you modify configuration and deployed the status will be green if successful.
To check if CSM has the new device configuration, you can click on Manage then click Configuration Archive…
Under the Archival Source column it says Discovery, remember the default settings in the New Device wizard?
These defaults discover the configuration from the Cisco ASA.
If you double click or click View button you will see the configuration of the newly discovered device.
You can compare this configuration with the configuration of last deployed.
