Deploying McAfee Stinger to managed clients with McAfee ePO 4.5

Introduction
This article present an example on how package is deployed to the managed clients with McAfee ePolicy orchestrator 4.5. McAfee stinger is a free tool for scanning specific virus and malware it is not meant to replace the full blown virus scan product.

Download the package from McAfee
There are environments where the network is not connected to the internet directly or there is no internet access, as an engineer from a system integrator company you have to download from mcafee site and place it to a vigorously scanned USB thumbdrive for offline deployment.

Download stinger from here.

Check in package
Download stinger to your thumbdrive and check in the package.

Click on Menu and select Software then select Master Repository.

After you have confirmed that the package for deployment click Next.

Deploy the package
Go to the system tree and update from the master repository.

Select Client Task, then click on New Task.

Conclusion
McAfee ePolicy is a great centralized management tool for deployment, managing, monitoring and updating. Unfortunately this is not a SIEM that supports non-mcafee products.

Virus definition, virus engine and McAfee Agent update is done through Agent update after you have check in the files downloaded from McAfee site. The deployment of application/package has to be done on System Tree > Client Task for application installation.
