I got a friend who asked me if I have enabled http service or not, I replied yes, he told me that he could access the page but the page showed page cannot be displayed..I did not take much heed on his request because the object was achieved.
The problem was because there’s two asdm image in the flash, the image loaded in the configuration was different from the version he installed.
asa-2(config)# sh flash Initializing disk0: cache, please wait........Done. -#- --length-- -----date/time------ path 11 8515584 Sep 27 2008 06:34:22 asa724-k8.bin 12 4181246 Sep 27 2008 06:35:38 securedesktop-asa-3.2.1.103-k9.pkg 13 398305 Sep 27 2008 06:36:10 sslclient-win-1.1.0.154.pkg 14 6514852 Sep 27 2008 06:38:26 asdm-524.bin 17 0 Sep 27 2008 06:42:32 crypto_archive 18 16275456 Apr 21 2011 10:01:24 asa821-k8.bin 19 0 Apr 21 2011 09:44:14 log 49 11348300 Apr 21 2011 10:04:08 asdm-621.bin 50 0 May 01 2011 04:13:16 coredumpinfo 51 43 Jun 26 2011 04:43:12 coredumpinfo/coredump.cfg
Before you start to question if http is enabled or not first troubleshoot by issuing this command, it is obvious that https service was enabled otherwise he would not even see a certificate message.
asa-2(config)# sh run asdm
asdm image disk0:/asdm-621.bin
no asdm history enable
If you do not see any entry for asdm image it means there’s no image loaded in the configuration, your asdm launcher will not be abled to launch the asdm.
To load asdm into image:
asa-2(config)# asdm image flash:/asdm-621.bin
To enable http service and specify which host can access:
asa-2(config)# http server enable asa-2(config)# http 192.168.100.0 255.255.255.0 inside
